  • Jack Helinski’s Eagle Scout Project

Sophomore Jack Helinski is pursuing his Eagle Scout rank by installing a cement walkway at the entrance of Maple Festival Park. As is convention, this Eagle Scout project may only be funded through community outreach, and the response has been truly overwhelming and heartwarming. Things are really coming together!

Thank you Lenny Lottig and ITI Trailers & Truck Bodies for fabricating and donating the form we will use to pour the maple leaf design in our cement pad. Thank you John Clapper and Clapper's Building Materials for donating the shale and its delivery. Thank you Garrett and Friedens boy scout troops for rolling up your sleeves with us to level the shale.

We have contracted John Mosholder Masonry for the cement work. He will pour the red-tinted maple leaf Monday, September 21. After the maple leaf cures, we will put a circle form in place for the second and final pour, which we have tentatively scheduled for the week of October 4. We plan to assemble and install the keeler planters and the benches in time for a ribbon-cutting ceremony that coincides with tree tapping.

Thank you for your donations. We are approaching 50% of our goal. Your generosity covered the cost of the first pour. There are still opportunities to contribute. We must cover the costs of the second pour and the keelers and benches. To help, please see Cay Helinski or Jack Helinski to donate or visit to make an online gift. Your continued support goes directly toward the completion of this project.

  • New Secure Entrances at MASD

In an effort to increase security at Meyersdale Area Schools, secure entrances have been constructed at the elementary and high school.  From the hours of 8:05 am - 2:50 pm, any persons coming to the district are asked to use either the elementary or high school entrances.  All middle school dropoffs, pickups, family members or visitors are asked to use the high school entrance from 8:05 to 2:50.
Additionally, anyone requesting access beyond these offices will be required to provide proper identification, such as a valid drivers license, for scanning purposes.

Your cooperation with these new security measures is appreciated.
