My name is Angel Floyd, and I am one of the Library Media Specialists at Meyersdale Area School District.  I graduated in 1999 from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a BA in Secondary Education-English.  Then, I spent five years teaching high school English in New Jersey before returning to Pennsylvania in 2005.  I opened my own daycare center at that time and  continued to operate the facility until 2012.  In January of 2007, however, I started working at Meyersdale Middle School as an English teacher.  I received my master's degree in 21st Century Teaching and Learning before becoming certified as a K-12 Library Media Specialist.  I now work in the Media Center full-time, and I love it!  I spend a great deal of my day helping students with online learning, assisting teachers with computer applications, and managing resources for the library.   It's a great job, and although I miss the classroom sometimes, I am still able to interact with students regularly!
I married my husband, Jason, in 1999.  He is a Professional Geologist/Vice-President at Mountain Research in Altoona, PA.  We have two beautiful little girls.  Viktorya is 12, and she loves soccer and riding horses.  Abygail is 10, and she travels all over the place as a competitive gymnast.  We are currently building a new house, so our lives are very chaotic.  I would say that we are a family that is always on the go!

My Oh-So-Busy, Chaotic Life!

  • Let's Try This Again

Posted by Angel Floyd on 9/22/2014
Well, I tried to do some blogging last year, but I got caught up in everything that goes along with working full-time and driving my girls to all their crazy activities, so it didn't last.  I'm going to give it another try.
Here it is...another year in the Meyersdale Media Center.  So far, we're off to a pretty good start!  We have been booked solid for CDT testing and Star Reading Tests, our iPad cart has been signed out at least four times already, and the students are visiting us on a regular basis.  We are very pleased with how smoothly the school year began for us here.  We are also excited to report that we have some new additions to the Media Center this year.  For instance, we are working on implementing a new Raider Reward program, where students will be able to earn treats from the Raider Roast, our new coffee bar.  Students who earn these rewards will be able to choose from hot chocolate, flavored coffee, tea, or cappuccino.  The Media Center will also be selling these beverages before and after school hours!
As for my life outside of the school, I've been going a bit crazy.  My husband and I are building a new home, which means that we are living with chaos.  Tory is playing Jr. High Soccer, so she is practicing or playing in games  every night.  When she's not on the soccer field, she's at the stable with the horses!  Aby still practices gymnastics at least 12 hours a week.  Her competition season is about to start, and we'll be traveling to places like Columbus, OH, Atlantic City, NJ, and Hilton Head, SC.  Looking forward to a great season...but not looking forward to all the traveling.
Until next time.....Have a great day!
