Summer Camp at MAES
The Meyersdale Area Elementary School will once again be holding their Summer Camp for students finishing grades first through fourth. This annual event is an opportunity for students to reinforce their Math, Reading, Science and Social Studies skills, while enjoying fun activities and field trips.
Held Monday through Thursday from July 9 through August 2, Summer Camp is free of charge and materials and lunch will be provided to each student. Activities will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
At the end of each week, students will enjoy a field trip or fun activity related to the previous week’s activities.
Organized by Mrs. Joey Emerick, MAES Guidance Counselor, the goal is to have an enrollment of 50 students.
“The program is open to students who were nominated by their teachers. The focus is to improve reading and math skills through classroom lessons, computer lessons, and games,” Emerick explained. “There will also be a theme for each week, and students will have science and social studies lessons to go along with that theme.”
