Cheerleaders to raise money for bright Pink ®
The Meyersdale Red Raider Junior Varsity and Varsity Cheer squad have taken on a challenge against the Berlin Mountaineer cheerleaders and they need your help!
Between now and October 4th, the cheerleaders will be raising money for bright Pink ® , an organization devoted to the detection and treatment of ovarian and breast cancers. Members will be selling pink balloons with an “in memory of” or “in celebration of” tag for $5.
The Red Raider Cheerleaders have accepted the challenge to “out donate” the Berlin Mountaineer cheerleaders. Berlin will also be selling pink balloons for their Pink Out night. Help us “out fundraise” the Lady Mountaineers and support bright Pink ® by either buying pink balloons or making a donation to the cause for that night. You can give donations to any cheerleader or in each front office in the pink “Beat Cancer, Beat Berlin” containers.
At half-time during the Meyersdale versus Berlin football game, on October 5, there will be a moment of silence and the cheerleaders will release all of the balloons into the air and make the sky “pink” in honor of and in memory of those affected by breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Half of all of our profits from the balloon sales will be donated to bright Pink ® .
“This year we decided to compete against Berlin in their fundraiser for breast cancer because it makes the community, especially women and young girls, aware of breast cancer and also promotes community and school spirit competing against our backyard rival,” Hannah Brant, cheer advisor explained. “To me this is important not only as a woman but as a coach of young women to make them aware of breast cancer and ovarian cancer.”
