"Music Man' is headed to MAHS

Meyersdale Area High School students are busy rehearsing for their 37th musical performance. "Music Man" will be performed on Thursday, Nov. 15th and Friday, Nov. 16th at 7 p.m. along with a matinee show on Saturday, Nov. 17th at 2 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

"Music Man' is a musical with book, music, and lyrics by Meredith Wilson, based strongly on a story by Wilson and Franklin Lacey. The plot concerns con man Harold Hill, who poses as a boys' band organizer and leader and sells band instruments and uniforms to naïve Midwestern townsfolk promising to train the members to form a band. Harold is no musician and plans to skip town without giving any music lessons and keeping their money. Prim librarian and piano teacher Marian Paroo sees through him but when Harold helps her younger brother overcome social awkwardness, Marian begins to fall in love with Harold. Will Mr. Hill stay in River City or fall for Marian? Come and see what happens.

"Music Man" was a Broadway hit in 1957 winning five Tony Awards including Best Musical. It became a movie in 1962 starring Shirley Jones and Robert Preston. The show had a revival on Broadway in 2000 and was adapted for TV in 2003.

This show is directed by Ian Edwards and has a cast of 35 students plus student stage crew and pit band members. We thank the community for their continued support. Hope to see you in November!
