Music Man to be performed
MEYERSDALE - Meyersdale Area High School students will present “The Music Man” on Thursday, Nov. 15th and Friday, 16th at 7 PM and on Saturday, Nov. 17th at 2 PM in the high school auditorium. This musical with book, music, and lyrics by Meredith Willson is strongly based on a story by Willson and Franklin Lacey. The plot concerns con man Harold Hill (Tristan Donica), who poses as a boys’ band organizer and leader who sells band instruments and uniforms to naïve Midwestern townsfolks promising to train the members to form a band. Harold is no musician and plans to skip town without giving music lessons and keeping their money. Prim librarian and piano teacher Marian Paroo (Elise Hutzell) sees through him but when Harold helps her younger brother overcome social awkwardness, Marian begins to fall in love with Harold.
“The Music Man” was a Broadway hit in 1957 winning five Tony Awards including Best Musical. It became a movie in 1962 starring Shirley Jones and Robert Preston. The show had a revival on Broadway in 2000 and was adapted for TV in 2003.

The show is directed by Ian Edwards. Assisting him is Labrina Ritchey (Vocals), Ian Dively, (Accompaniest), Megan Girimonti (Choreographer), Jason June (Pit Band Director) and Addison Holyfield (Costumes).
Tickets can be purchased at the door. Doors open half an hour before the show. Public is invited. Doors to the auditorium will be open half an hour before the show.
