MAHS students attend Clara Barton Forum
The following Meyersdale Area High School students were selected to attend the 27th Annual Clara Barton Forum: Maria Kimmel, Dezaray McNett, Gracen Miller, Bryia Swick and Nadia Minnick. The forum was held November 7 at the American Red Cross Building, in Johnstown. Approximately 100 young women, ages 16-21 from high schools and agencies in Cambria, Somerset, northeastern Westmoreland, and southern Indiana counties, attended the Forum which focused on self-esteem, decision making, problem solving and goal setting skills. CBF has a direct impact on the participants through large group presenters who speak on various topics, ranging from personal challenges to social media and other pertinent topics. Small group mentoring sessions provided the participants one-on-one contact with local women who share how they handled challenges and events in their lives that made them the successful people they are today. The facilitators and mentors are from diverse backgrounds and experiences who volunteer their time to make CBF a one of a kind experience. These women all have a passion for guiding and motivating young women in today’s ever-changing world.
