Financial Aid Night planned for September 9
The Guidance Office of the Meyersdale Area High School is hosting a Financial Aid Night on Monday, September 9 at 5:30 in the large group instruction room (LGI).
The goal of this event is to offer students and parents/guardians important information on available financial aid resources and instructions for filling out the necessary paperwork. Julie Fontana, a representative from PHEAA, the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), will be in attendance to answer any questions.
According to High School Guidance Counselor Cassie Arnold, attendees will learn about PHEAA services, loan and grant opportunities, Federal aid guidelines and details on upcoming deadlines.
“This is a great way to help families prepare their students for college visits and learn about the paperwork and deadlines associated with financial aid,” Arnold explained. “We will be covering state financial aid programs as well as FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid. We hope this information will help families make informed decisions when considering college, university and trade school options for their child.”
FAFSA applications will soon be available and the process can be started beginning October 1.
A second Financial Aid Night will be held in November and a representative will be available to walk families through the application process. Additional information will be sent home with students in November for the second financial aid session.
For more information on either of these programs, please contact Mrs. Arnold at 814-634-8311 ext. 305.
