Volley for a Cure "set" for November 7th

MEYERSDALE -The fourth annual Volley for a Cure volleyball tournament is “set” for November 7 at 7 p.m. and participants hope the public comes out to help them “spike” breast cancer!

This year’s event will be hosted by the Meyersdale Area School District and will feature four teams - Meyersdale, Salisbury, Turkeyfoot and Rockwood. Each team will have employees from their respective schools.  After those games are complete, teams will vie for the place winners and start the bracket play.

“This is always a fun evening where all the communities are invited to come out and watch their teachers and staff compete to raise money for a worthy cause,” explained Joe Kretchman, Turkeyfoot Area School District. Kretchman and Craig Gindlesperger, MASD Athletic Director, serve as the tournament organizers.

In addition to some serious competition in this best-of-three tournament, those in attendance will enjoy concessions and can participate in the Chinese Auction and a 50/50 drawing. Prior to the championship battle, there will be some ‘volleyball serving games” for fans to participate in and attempt to win gift certificates from various local restaurants! There will be six volleyballs given at $3 a chance at winning the gift certificates. All proceeds will benefit the Joyce P. Murtha Cancer Center for breast cancer awareness.
