Kaleidoscope of Talent set for January 24
MEYERSDALE - The Meyersdale Area School District will be filled with the joyous sound of music, laughter and an abundance of talent will be on display for the annual Kaleidoscope of Talent on January 24 at 6:30 p.m.
Sponsored by the Meyersdale Area Educational Boosters, the 2020 Kaleidoscope of Talent will feature 25 acts featuring students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Acts will include a hoverboard exhibition, gymnastic routines, a piano performance, baton twirling and many, many singing acts!
According to director Amy McKenzie, performances promise to be entertaining, exciting and inspiring!
“Participating in our annual talent show is a very rewarding experience. Students have the opportunity to share their special talents with their peers, teachers, and community. We have students that look forward to being on the stage every year in our show and feel very comfortable doing so. Promoting the love of the stage at an early age, can help children with confidence, self-esteem, and they may even discover the joys of entertaining,” she explained.
Each participant will be performing a talent no more than two minutes in length. All presentations have been reviewed and will be suitable for all audiences. This is not a contest, acts will not be judged. This is an opportunity for students to share and showcase their individual talents in a positive and supportive environment.
“My favorite part of the show is seeing the huge smiles on our students' faces when they exit the stage after their performances. Hearing the audience's applause and the positive comments from all of us backstage, gives these children a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. It takes a lot of courage to perform in front of an audience, especially your peers, so I am very proud of these children for embracing this experience,” McKenzie added.
Along with McKenzie, Jim Johnson, Rene and Abby Hay, Julia Smith, Jackie McKenzie and Labrina Ritchey have been helping these future stars prepare for their big night!
MAES Principal Devin Principal will serve as the event’s emcee. A role he enjoys greatly.
“The Talent Show is one of our favorite events. This event provides the opportunity to see a wide range of student talents. We often hear students discussing activities they do outside of school and this is a great way to showcase their talents,” Pritts said.
