Marching band offers discount cards
The “Pride of the Tribe,” including band members Kendal Sigler, Devin Donica and KeriAnn Beard, has kicked off their annual Meyersdale Area Marching Band Discount Card fundraiser. This annual sale, benefitting the Meyersdale Area Marching Band, is more important than ever as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt fall sports schedules and school events and activities. This year’s discount card features a wide range of 27 businesses, from the Somerset and Meyersdale area, to Grantsville and LaVale, Maryland. Participating businesses include restaurants, retailers, florists and even golf courses! The support of these fine businesses is deeply appreciated by the Meyersdale Area Marching Band and Band Boosters. The concession stand at home games is an important aspect of fundraising for the band. However, current regulations limit the number of spectators allowed for sporting events thus significantly impacting the band’s ability to raise funds. According to Katie Howard, Director of Bands, the program will be relying heavily upon the proceeds from this fundraiser. “We are so grateful to these local businesses who have agreed to support our band again this year. Proceeds from the cards will help to purchase supplies and provide learning opportunities for all of our band students,” she explained. Meyersdale Area Marching Band Discount Cards will be available for purchase through the end of September. Please see your favorite member of the “Pride of the Tribe” to purchase a card or contact the Meyersdale Area High School office at 814-634-8311. These discount cards make excellent gifts and can be used again and again at participating businesses for one full year. If you would like to support the Meyersdale Area Marching Band, please consider joining the Band Boosters. The Band Boosters is open to all parents/guardians of band members and the group meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the high school band room.
