Middle School Remarkable Raiders

MEYERSDALE - Several  Meyersdale Area Middle and High School students were named Remarkable Raiders for the month of February. Students in grades six through 12 were selected based on the merits of Academic Performance, Character, Behavior, Effort, Good Citizenship and Attendance. Remarkable Raiders are recognized at the monthly  meetings of the Meyersdale School Board. 

 

The following Meyersdale Middle School students have been named Remarkable Raiders for the Month of February: Brooke Sell, Christine Wise and Jaylynn (last name omitted by request). 

 

Brooke Sell, a sixth grade student, is the daughter of Kimberly and Matthew Sell. Her favorite classes include Social Studies and Science. Outside of school, Sell enjoys softball, farming and Jiu-jitsu. Following high school, Sell plans to attend a university to earn a degree is a veterinarian and/or teacher. 

 

Christine Wise, a seventh grade student, said her favorite classes include Reading, Geography and Science. Her hobbies include writing, drawing and track. After high school, Christine plans to join the U.S. Army and pursue a career as an author.  

 

Jaylynn, an eighth grade student, said she enjoys Science and History class. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering and painting. After high school, Jaylynn plans to pursue an education to become a Vet Tech. 

 

Freshman Lincoln Baker is the son of Erin and Matt Baker. Baker enjoys hunting, fishing and trapping. His favorite classes at MAHS are  History and Tech Ed.  After high school, Baker hopes to be a police officer or a trucker.

 

Sophomore Emily Beal is the daughter of Danielle and Matt Beal. Her favorite classes are Career Comp (English) and World Studies.  Her hobbies include reading and spending time with friends and family. Following high school graduation, Beal hopes to attend Penn State University to study Early Childhood Education. 

 

Junior Cathleen Deal is the daughter of LeeAnn Deal. Her favorite MAHS classes include POD and History. Her hobbies include spending time with her nieces and nephews and reading. Deal is unsure of her plans following high school but hopes to one day become a foster parent. 

 

Senior Erik Baker is the son of Terry and Marcy Baker. Baker attends the Somerset County Tech Center where he is enrolled in the machinist program. Baker is a four-year letterwinner for the Red Raider Varsity Rifle team. In his spare time, he enjoys dirt bike riding, fishing, hunting and going to car shows. After graduation Erik plans on pursuing a career in the machinist field.
