Youngest Red Raiders enjoy graduation ceremony
Meyersdale Area Elementary School Kindergarten students have weathered a challenging year with great strength and determination, all the while with a smile on their faces. Those 59 adorable faces were celebrated on May 20 with the annual Spring Program and Graduation.
“The kindergarten students have embraced all challenges presented to them throughout this year. They have adapted to necessary changes and learned so much throughout the last nine months,” explained Brandy Paulman, one of three kindergarten teachers here at MASD. “This school year was very different, but these kiddos truly made the most of it!”
With the help of Paulman, Ms. Tina Zeglin and Mrs. Janine Sechler, students prepared two songs and recited a poem for their parents/guardians. Parents were also given a special screening of their child’s experiences as a Red Raider in the Kindergarten Memories Slideshow. The program concluded with an official “graduation ceremony,” complete with traditional caps and gowns.
Mrs. Paulman’s class presented “Get Ready, Get Set, Let’s Dance” and offered their thanks for a wonderful year. Mrs. Sechler’s class presented “Hip Hop Alphabop” and “Little Red Box.” Ms. Zeglin’s students presented “Chicken Count'' and “It is Time to Say Goodbye.”

“We were so thankful the graduation could be conducted in person this year! Kindergarten is the foundation of their education. Their efforts and accomplishments should be celebrated! This day marks an important milestone and a successful step in their educational career,” Paulman added. “It was a blessing that parents could attend in person to support their kindergartener. As teachers, we are so proud of every single kindergarten graduate. They are ready for first grade and plenty of new adventures!”
