"Into the Woods" set to debut next week at MAHS

MEYERSDALE - Meyersdale Area High School students will present their 40th musical, Into the Woods on at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18th and Friday, 19th; and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20th in the high school auditorium. 

Into the Woods is a musical based on a book by James Lapine. The music and lyrics are written by Stephen Sondheim. The musical is based on some of our most beloved fairy tales, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the BeanstalkRapunzel and others. Characters wish for things and get them but then they don’t seem to know how to live happily ever after. Moral of the story is to be careful what you wish for -  wish wisely!

The cast features the following talented group of students: Gracie Paulman, Narrator; Elizabeth Sayler, Witch; Ethan Simpkins, Baker; Lydia Renzi, Baker’s Wife; Shelby Hetz, Jack; Melanie Riether, Jack’s Mother; Laura Boyce, Cinderella; Jaylynn Anderson, Evil Stepmother; Avery Logsdon, Florinda; Kyley Emerick, Lucinda; Evan Schafer, Wolf and Cinderella’s Prince; Kylie Sipple, Rapunzel; Ryan Sechler, Rapunzel’s Prince; Laurel Daniels, Little Red Riding Hood; Kaitlyn Kyle, Grandmother; Jimmy Kretchman, Cinderella’s Dad; Hope Canfield, Mystery Mountain Man; and Landon Wilt, Steward. Members of the  Ensemble include: Emily Beal, DJ McKenzie, Hannah Emerick, Calen Simpkins, Logan Simpkins and Emily Stewart.

 The show is directed by Ian Edwards. Assisting him is Labrina Ritchey, Vocal Coach;  Katie Spiri, Accompanist; Megan Edwards, Choreographer; and Jason June, Musical Director.

To preorder tickets, call Britta at 814-634-8584 by Nov. 16th. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. Auditorium doors will open half an hour before the show. Public is invited.
