October Remarkable Raiders
MEYERSDALE - Several Meyersdale Area Middle and High School students were named Remarkable Raiders for the month of October. Students in grades six through 12 were selected based on the merits of Academic Performance, Character, Behavior, Effort, Good Citizenship and Attendance. Remarkable Raiders are recognized at the monthly meetings of the Meyersdale School Board.
The following Meyersdale Middle School students have been named Remarkable Raiders for the Month of October: Kaden Kelly, Chris DiPasquale and Ava Jeffries. The following high school students were honored for their efforts: Jaylynn Anderson, Conner Shuck, Rachel Daughton and Jill Bako.
Kaden Kelly, a sixth grade student at Meyersdale Middle School, is the son of Ashley Hostetler and Scott Kelly. He plays basketball and baseball and plans to attend college following high school. His favorite subjects are Math and Civics.
Christopher DiPasquale, a seventh grade student, is the son of Candace and Anthony DiPasquale. He enjoys playing football, baseball and basketball. He is als an avid hunter and enjoys archery and fishing.
Ava Jeffries, an eighth grader, is the daughter of Margie and Brandon Jeffries. She is the third youngest in a family of eight children. Outside of school, she enjoys listening to music and painting. Her favorite class this year is Math with Ms. McClintock. Following high school, she plans to work in the medical field and become a CNA or GNA.
Jaylynn Anderson, a freshman, is the daughter of Rebekah and Jason Anderson. She is a member of the Red Raider Rifle Team, SADD club and is a cast member of the school’s musical. She is also a Junior Firefighter for the Meyersdale Volunteer Fire Department. Her favorite classes are Environmental Science and History. Following high school, Anderson plans to attend the Vet Tech Institution in Pittsburgh.
Conner Shuck, tenth grade, is the son of Tonya and Dale Shuck. Shuck is a member of the Red Raider football and wrestling teams. Following high school, he plans to join the U.S. Marine Corps.
Rachel Daughton, a junior at MAHS, is the daughter of Wendy and Dave Daughton. Her favorite classes include English and Science. Her extracurricular activities include Raider Review and she is a member of the Lady Raiders Cross Country, Basketball and Track and Field teams. She is also a member of the Laurel Highlands Intensity Softball team. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. Following high school, Daughton plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a career in pharmacy, pediatric cardiology or journalism.
Jillian Bako, a senior, is the daughter of Shelly and John Bako. She is a member of the Red Raider Marching Band and Jazz Band. She also competes on the Red Raider Track and Field and Cross Country teams. Bako qualified and competed in the 2021 PIAA Cross Country State Championships earlier this month. Bako, an Honor Roll student, is an outstanding student with a 4.0+ GPA. She is a member of the MAHS National Honor Society; and has been named a Lions Club Student of the Month, and has earned national distinction as an AP Scholar. Outside of school, Bako works at the Cumberland YMCA and volunteers with the Frostburg Community Band.After graduation, she plans to attend Penn State University Park and major in Industrial Engineering.
