November Remarkable Raiders

MEYERSDALE - Several  Meyersdale Area Middle and High School students were named Remarkable Raiders for the month of November. Students in grades six through 12 were selected based on the merits of Academic Performance, Character, Behavior, Effort, Good Citizenship and Attendance. Remarkable Raiders are recognized at the monthly  meetings of the Meyersdale School Board. 

 

The following Meyersdale Middle School students have been named Remarkable Raiders for the Month of November: Ethan Smith, Brooke Sell and Matthew Hainesworth.

 

Ethan Smith, sixth grade, is the son of  Kayla Brown and Tanner Smith. He enjoys playing baseball, riding his dirt bike, playing on his electronics and loves hunting. His plans following high school are to play baseball or become a construction worker. 

 

Brooke Sell, seventh grade, is the daughter of Matt and Kim Sell. She enjoys hunting, jujitsu and playing softball. In school, her favorite class is Science. She hopes to have a career as a painter or in agriculture. 

 

Matthew Hainsworth, eighth grade, is the son of Melissa and Dennis. He plays basketball, football and baseball. His hobbies include playing sports and spending time with friends. His favorite classes are Algebra I, History and Wood Shop.

 

Middle School Remarkable Raiders

The following Meyersdale High School students have been named Remarkable Raiders for the Month of November: Karter Schurg, Laurel Daniels, Laura Boyce and Evan Brenneman.

 

Karter Schurg, ninth grade, is the son of Buffy and Richard Schurg. He is a member of the Red Raider Football and Baseball teams. His favorite class is history and after high school, he plans to attend college to earn a degree in education.

 

Laurel Daniels, a sophomore, is the daughter of Tony and Jeff Daniels. She is a member of the Red Raider Marching, Concert and Jazz Bands; as well as the Lady Raider Basketball and Softball teams. She is also a member of the cast of the school’s musical. Outside of school, she enjoys being a student and teacher at the Garrett School of Dance and Baton. Following high school, she plans to attend college to earn a degree in elementary education. 

 

Laura Boyce, a junior at MAHS, is the daughter of Rebecca and David Boyce. She is a member of the Cross Country team; Captain of the Lady Raiders Cheer Squad; Drum Major of the Red Raider Marching Band; Raider Review, Jazz Band, Chorus; Student Council and was elected Secretary of the Class of 2023. She has been selected to participate in District Band and Chorus. Her favorite classes are Anatomy and Physiology. Outside of school, Boyce is a dancer at Studio; serves as Worship Leader at Meyersdale Grace Brethren Church; plays piano and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to pursue a career in the medical field.  

 

Evan Brenneman, a senior, is the son of Jeff and Jena Brenneman and Lucinda Brenneman. He is a member of the Red Raider Football and Basketball teams. His favorite classes are Tech Ed and History classes with Mr. Stahl. After school and sports, Brenneman enjoys tinkering on automobiles.
