Homecoming 2022
MEYERSDALE - Homecoming is always a special time for the community of Meyersdale and the school district. This year’s event, October 7, promises to be a true celebration as this season marks 100 years of Meyersdale Football. The Red Raiders will be facing the Windber Ramblers at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 7th.
Festivities will begin on October 3 with Spirit Week for students. On Monday, October 3, students are encouraged to dress as their favorite celebrity; Tuesday will be Beach/Tourist Day; Wednesday will be Western Day; Thursday will be Formal/Gold Day; and Friday will be Anything But a Bookbag Day and Red & Black Day. Throughout the week, students will be working on their Homecoming banners. The theme for 2022 Homecoming is "Cities." The seniors will be creating a banner celebrating Las Vegas; Juniors will represent Honolulu; Sophomores will be sharing the sites of Hollywood; and the Freshman will share the excitement of Nashville.
On Thursday, October 6, Meyersdale Parks and Rec Committee will be hosting the traditional Homecoming Parade and Bonfire. The parade line-up will begin at 6:30 p.m. starting at the old State Theater on Broadway. Varsity, Junior Varsity and Junior High teams, along with Youth teams, are invited to participate. The parade will include the Red Raider Marching Band and the Red Raider Cheerleaders. Students will also be marching with Homecoming banners. The parade will begin at approximately 6:50 pm and continue to the Paul Fuller Playground where the bonfire will take place. There will be a D.J. at the event to play music throughout the evening.
Prior to the Homecoming game on Friday, October 7, an Open House for past, present and future Red Raiders will be held at the high school from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The halls, lobby and gym will be decorated and Red Raider memorabilia will be on display. Former Red Raider coaches will be in attendance and light refreshments will be served.
On October 7, at 6 p.m., previous members of the Red Raider football teams are asked to begin gathering at the football stadium. Former players will be lining up, near the goalpost, according to the decade in which they played at 6:20 p.m. If you are planning to attend and would like to be recognized, please RVSP by calling 814-634-8311 ext. 323.
The Meyersdale Red Raider Cheerleaders are inviting all Meyersdale Red Raider Alumni Cheerleaders to come out to the game and cheer on the track during the second quarter of the game.
Organizers are hoping to make this a Homecoming Celebration that celebrates 100 years of Meyersdale Football. Come out and show your Raider pride and proudly display that Red and Black!
