Volleyball team holds Ace-A-Thon
The Meyersdale Lady Raider Junior High Volleyball team is holding a special fundraiser during the month of October. In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, players will be collecting sponsors for an Ace-A-Thon.
Each “ace” served (when a served volley is not returned cleanly or lands in bounds untouched) would be eligible for payment based on donations or a flat contribution can be made for each game scheduled in October. For example, $1 per ace; increasing donations with each game; or a monetary donation per game. Player statistics will be updated following each game and new totals will be given to players at the following practice.
The fundraiser will begin with the Lady Raiders’ home game against the Berlin Lady Mountaineers on October 5, 2022 and conclude with our away game at Rockwood on October 20, 2022. Payments are due to Coach Peters by October 28, 2022. Any checks can be made payable to MRRAB. All proceeds from the Ace-A-Thon will be donated to The Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center, located in Windber.
Coach Elissa Peters said she and her players are excited to “spike” cancer and support The Joyce Murtha Breast Cancer Center.
“This is an excellent opportunity for the girls to improve their individual scores and help support a cause that affects each of us,” Peters explained. “We are so grateful for the support we receive and want to do something to help others while raising awareness.”
