MEYERSDALE - The Meyersdale Area High School Class of 2023 is thrilled and proud to invite family, friends and members of the community to their annual Baccalaureate Service. Baccalaureate services for the Class of 2023 will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 1 in the high school auditorium.
This student-sponsored event will feature special music and readings by class representatives. The Class of 2023 officers will be among those speaking. These officers include: Laura Boyce, President; Shelby Hetz, Vice President; Rachel Daughton, Secretary; and Noah Kretchman, Treasurer.
Boyce will offer the Welcoming Address and Opening Prayer for the ceremony. Daughton will be providing a reading of Isaiah 41:10. Madison Dively, member of the Class of 2023, will be reading Philippians 4:13.
The program will feature special music by members of the Class of 2023. Boyce and Hetz will be performing a duet. Other selections will include “Sanctuary” and “Victory in Jesus.” Mrs. Katie Howard, MASD Director of Bands, will provide the accompaniment for the musical selections.
The guest speaker for the program will be Pastor Tim Shivler, Mountain Valley Bible Church.
Pastor Shivler was born in Beaver County in a godly home and trusted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He graduated from Heritage Baptist College in Orlando, Florida in 1992. He is married to Julie Shivler, the patient care manager for Conemaugh Home Health in Meyersdale. Their two children, Seth and Abby, both attend Pensacola Christian College. Shivler has served as a youth director in Bithlo, Florida, youth pastor in East Liverpool Ohio and taught middle school and high school in Florida and Ohio, as well as pastored Center Church in Garrett from
1998 through 2006. In 2006, he was involved in the founding of Mountain Valley Bible Church, located just south of Berlin, where he continues to serve as pastor.
Pastor Shivler plans to deliver a message entitled “Opportunity and Responsibility,” based on Proverbs 3:5 and 6; Daniel 1:8; and Matthew 9:35-38.
The program will conclude with the Closing Prayer and Benediction by Kretchman and the Recessional will be “God of our Fathers.”
