MAHS January Remarkable Raiders
The Meyersdale Area School District Remarkable Raider program will recognize its January honorees during the February 7th school board meeting. Students in grades six through 12 were selected based on the merits of Academic Performance, Character, Behavior, Effort, Good Citizenship and Attendance.
The following Meyersdale High School students were named Remarkable Raiders for the Month of January: Spencer Whitfield, Katelyn Laws, Karter Schurg and Brady McKenzie.
Spencer Whitfield, ninth grade, is the son of Heidi and Doug Whitfield. He is a member of the Red Raider Varsity Football, Basketball and Baseball teams.
Katelyn Laws, tenth grade, is the daughter of Sirena and Larry Laws. She is a member of the MAHS FFA Chapter and enjoys showing animals and caring for the animals on her family’s farm. She is also a member of the MAHS Student Council and will be running long distance in the Spring for the Red Raider Track team. Katelyn loves English class and hopes to share that love for learning when she is older and plans to become an English teacher.
Karter Schurg, a junior, is the son of Buffy and Richard Schurg. He is a member of the Red Raider Varsity Football and Baseball teams and is a member of the Red Raider Weightlifting program. His favorite class is Elective History with Mr. Andrew Stahl. Following high school, Karter plans to attend college to earn a degree in Education.
Brady McKenzie, a senior, is the son of Brooke and Dan McKenzie of Meyersdale. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has earned Honor Roll many times throughout his academic career. At MAHS, he is involved in weightlifting and is a member of the Red Raider Varsity Football team. Following graduation, Brady plans to attend college and major in Cyber Security.
