May MAHS Remarkable Raiders
The Meyersdale Area School District Remarkable Raider program recently recognized its May honorees. Students in grades six through 12 were selected based on the merits of Academic Performance, Character, Behavior, Effort, Good Citizenship and Attendance.
The following Meyersdale High School students were named Remarkable Raiders for the Month of May: Madison Berkley, Nick Hanson, Jaylynn Anderson and Arianna Shaffer.
Madison Berkley, ninth grade, is the daughter of Ashley and Richard Berkley. She is a member of the Lady Raider Volleyball, Basketball and Softball teams. Following graduation, Madison plans to attend Clemson University and major in Criminal Law and then become a lawyer.
Nicholas Hanson, tenth grade, is the son of Lynne Sablotski and Roger Hanson. His favorite classes are History, English and Biology. He is a member of the Red Raider Cross Country and Track and Field teams. He is also involved in weightlifting. Nicholas hopes to one day become a Political Science professor.
Jaylynn Anderson, a junior, is the daughter of Rebekah and Jason Anderson. Her favorite classes are Psychology and Sociology. She is a junior member of the Meyersdale Volunteer Fire department, Red Raider Rifle Team, Student Council and Prom Committee. She is a cast member of the school musical and is Secretary of Envirothon and Secretary of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions). Following high school, Jaylynn plans to attend nursing school to obtain her Registered Nursing degree, work in shock trauma, and later get her BSN.
Arianna Shaffer, a senior, is the daughter of Susan and Aaron Shaffer. Her favorite classes are Honors Contemporary Affairs with Mr. Stahl; Honors Anatomy and Physiology with Mr. T Miller; and College Prep English with Mrs. Deakins. She is a statistician for the Red Raider Track and Field Team and is a member of the Studio 7 School of Dance Company Team. After graduation, Arianna plans to attend Florida Southern College for Marine Biology.
